If you were to follow the outcropping shoreline in the middle of the photo you would see the Cape Coast Castle, run by the British (bitter enemies of the Dutch). It is just out of site in this photo.

To the far right is the Elmina slave castle and the bridge that leads to it. The fishermans's village is in the shadow of the castle, with the boats waiting for high tide to launch. Children are playing soccer on the beach, and playing in the waves.
